Sekthaus Geldermann has presented the Cuvée Grand Jubilée, limited to 6,000 bottles, to celebrate its 180th anniversary. The sparkling wine has matured in the bottle for 24 months and consists of 90 percent Chardonnay and ten percent Pinot Noir.
Geldermann's origins lie in the Champagne region, where the Aacheners William Deutz and Peter Geldermann founded a winery in 1838 and produced champagne. A branch in Hagenau was soon followed by the foundation of the present main house in Breisach, Baden. The Breisacher Schlossberg houses a cellar that is over 600 years old.
The Grand Jubilée sparkling wine is available from October for just under 16 euros.
