The American wine closure manufacturer Nomacorc has announced a recycling initiative for its corks. Nomacorc President and CEO Dr. Heino Freudenberg explained at the World Economic Forum in Davos that his company wants to test "an endless recycling cycle" in a pilot project together with industry partners such as Sabic and Unilever.

The aim is to use the used corks of the Nomacorc brands for high-quality, new and durable products. Michael Blaise, the Nomacorc board member responsible for sustainability, cited wine coolers and swimming pool partition chains as the first examples. The technical breakthrough for recycling corks will make it possible to start a pilot project in 2019 with partners for collection and new processing.
