The Court of Master Sommeliers in the Austrian Klosterneuburg has appointed five new members after passing the exams. Helga Schröder is now the first Master Sommelière in Germany, Toru Takamatsu, only 24 years old, the first Master Sommelier in Japan and Svetoslav Manolev the first MS in Bulgaria. Furthermore Carlos Simoes from Portugal and Pierre Brunelli from France were appointed Master Sommeliers. Last year none of the candidates had passed the exam. The students have to pass the exams within three years. With the newly appointed there are 262 Master Sommeliers worldwide.
