The earliest harvest of all time in Austria produced a crop of 3.22 million hectolitres in 2018. This is reported by "Statistik Austria". According to this, the yield on the almost 48,000 ha was 67.2 hl/ha on average. There were very clear differences depending on the cultivation region: The highest value was achieved in Kremstal with 77.2 hl/ha, while in Wien the quantity was considerably lower at 40.7 hl/ha. The quality of the must is between 1.1 and 2.2 on a scale of 1.1 to 2.2 according to school grades. The maximum yield per hectare was increased by 20 percent nationwide so that farms could at least partially compensate for their 2017 harvest losses. A year ago, the harvest volume was just under 2.5 million hectolitres.
