The Burgundy barrel manufacturer Seguin Moreau presented a round, rotating oak barrel at the Vinitech trade fair. The "Galileoak" with a capacity of 15 hl is round like a ball and is rotated by a black, impressively designed steel construction with drive.

On the one hand, this gives the wine cellar a visitor attraction, on the other hand, the fine yeast in the young wine can remain permanently in motion during white wine fermentation. In red wine fermentation, the barrel is suitable for maceration and mash fermentation and offers many advantages.

According to Seguin Moreau, the barrel at a price of 50,000 euros has already been pre-ordered three times. The model for the development was the Galileo start-up, which developed a rotating, round copper barrel for processing cognac in 2014. According to the company, tests in red wine production are still necessary before the product can go into production.
