With the event "Rohkost" at the Bensheim sparkling wine estate Griesel & Compagnie (Bergstrasse), a tasting of base wines and raw sparkling wines for high-quality sparkling wines with traditional bottle fermentation took place for the first time in Germany. A total of 13 German wineries as well as a champagne estate came to Bensheim in order to convey the basis of their products to the many visitors in this way.

For the organiser Niko Brandner, plant manager of Griesel & Compagnie, the surprisingly large number of invited trade visitors, bloggers and journalists was confirmation of the great interest in German sparkling wine. "In Champagne, such tastings are quite common, only in Germany they have never been held before", said Brandner, "now the time is ripe, the new German sparkling wine culture is currently experiencing great interest. We will certainly repeat this next year."

Among the companies were traditional houses like Schloß Vaux, Solter and Raumland as well as newcomers like Flik, Bamberger and Krack. Finally, the Champagne Ambassador Boris Maskow moderated a master class with unusual, interesting and rare vintage sparkling wines in comparison.
