The 32nd Wine Route experience day under the motto "Wild Palatinate" on Sunday, 27.8.2017 attracted around 250,000 guests to the region. The day with many attractions along the car-free Wine Route was organized by Pfalzwein. e.V. together with the neighbouring communities.

On historical handcars, the Minister of Economics of Rhineland-Palatinate Dr. Volker Wissing, Minister of the Environment Ulrike Höfken, District Administrator Hans-Ulrich Ihlenfeld, Bad Dürkheim's Mayor Christoph Glogger and the Palatinate Wine Queen Anastasia Kronauer opened the Wine Route Festival on the town square in Bad Dürkheim. Wissing called the event a "great advertisement for the Palatinate way of life".

Above all, the good cycling weather with temperatures of 25 to 28 degrees and mostly cloudy skies had put the visitors in a good mood. The parking lots along the wine route were filled with cars from Rhineland-Palatinate, as well as vehicles with license plates from Thuringia, Hesse, Saarland and Baden-Württemberg, but also from North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. The police, who were on duty with 119 officers, reported six accidents in which cyclists were slightly injured. They spoke of a "calm course"

There was great demand for the Palatinate wild bratwurst, which was offered at various places along the 80-kilometer route. At the butcher's shop Lenz at the town square of Bad Dürkheim this speciality was already sold out at 3 pm, altogether about 3000 wild fried sausages were consumed

At "wilderness islands", visitors were introduced to the attractions of the Palatinate Forest. At the roundabout near Mußbach, interested people could also find out interesting facts about the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve and learn how the Nature and Environment Foundation keeps track of the lynxes that have been released into the wild in the Palatinate Forest
