The American wine and spirits group E. & J. Gallo Winery has taken over the highly renowned Californian winery Pahlmeyer at an undisclosed price. It is one of the best and most famous estates in Napa Valley. The deal includes the two wine brands Pahlmeyer and Jayson by Pahlmeyer. The bottle prices of both lines are currently between 30 and 350 dollars. The founder Jayson Pahlmeyer filled the first vintage of his winery in 1986.

E. & J. Gallo is one of the largest wine companies in the world with 6,500 employees. The wine production volume with an estimated twa one billion bottles per year is only slightly below the size that is filled throughout Germany. About 25 percent of all wines sold in the USA come from Gallo's portfolio and the company sells in 110 countries around the world.

Neither company made any further statements about the future of Pahlmeyer or about changes in wine production.
