A specially designed electric guitar made from the wood of a Riesling barrel is being auctioned off by the Palatinate winery von Winning, guitar maker Jens Ritter from Deidesheim, barrel maker Ralf Mattern and Kirk Bauer from Kirks Total Wine in aid of children's cancer. Ritter cut the oak wood for the guitar named "The Pechstein" from a specially built barrel. The von Winning wine from the Pechstein vineyard, which has matured in this 500-litre barrel, will also be sold in aid of Kinderkrebshilfe. The auction of the guitar has been running for a few days and will end on Sunday, 23 December.

Jens Ritter is one of the most renowned guitar makers in Germany. His instruments have been played by Prince, George Benson, Mary J. Blige and The Greateful Dead, for example. The Pechstein guitar comes in a special case that also holds a bottle of the wine and two glasses.
