The Federal Foreign Office and the German Wine Institute (DWI) have selected 25 wines in a large blind tasting and recommended them to German diplomatic missions abroad. Diplomats offer German wines to their guests at receptions, banquets, dinners and other occasions around the globe. To make the selection easier, 385 wines were put forward for pre-selection. Of these, 39 made it to the final, which took place at the Federal Foreign Office. In the end, 25 wines and sparkling wines were selected, which will now be sent to all German missions abroad in the form of an order list and as a recommendation for purchase.

To make the selection easier for the embassy staff, they will receive a recommendation for each wine along with the list of wines as to which dishes it goes well with.
