The Italian DOC Pinot Grigio delle Venzie, released in 2017, has drastically increased its wine sales in 2019. They rose by 34 percent compared to 2018. This is equivalent to around 53 million bottles more than in the previous year. But the DOC managers doubt whether these figures can be achieved in 2020. Because the production of the 2019 vintage was 25 percent lower than in 2018 due to the difficult weather conditions.
The new DOC includes the growing regions Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Trentino-Alto Adige and the Veneto. Chardonnay, Friulano, Garganega, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Verduzzo may be grown on vines.
