Katharina Staab from the Nahe is the 69th German Wine Queen. With charm and eloquence, the 27-year-old marketing manager from Oberhausen convinced the 70-strong jury of experts and won the sympathy of the approximately 800 spectators in the Saalbau in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. As German Wine Princesses, the new Queen Laura Lahm (left in the photo) from Rheinhessen and Charlotte Freiberger (right in the photo) from the Hessian Bergstrasse are at the side of the jury.

Katharina Staab grew up on her family's vineyard and after graduating from high school she went to Canada as an au pair. She then studied business administration in Mainz and completed her Management Master's degree in Lisbon. She completed internships in Prague and London and backpacked in South East Asia and Colombia. Currently she works for an internet wine shop in Mainz. On behalf of the German Wine Institute (DWI), she will now spend a year travelling to more than 200 events in Germany and abroad as an ambassador for German wine.
