The German Wine Institute (DWI) has once again awarded prizes for excellent wine and gastronomy concepts at the ProWein in Düsseldorf. The prizes were awarded in six different categories.

In the gourmet category, the jury chose the "Hotel bei Schumann" in the Lausitz region as the winner. In the upscale gastronomy category, the prize went to "Bernhards Restaurant" in Montabaur and the Cologne wine bar "Henne" was awarded in the wine gastronomy category. The jurors selected the "Grill Royal" in Berlin as the best international gastronomy in the competition and in the hotel gastronomy category the "Weinwirtschaft Travemünde" in the A-Rosa Hotel there emerged as the winner. The category Gastronomy in general was won by "Fischerklause Lütjensee" east of Hamburg.

The jury included Otto J. Völker, managing director of the cooperation partner Selters, as well as the sommeliers Christina Fischer, Paula Bosch and Gunnar Tietz. In addition to the scope and quality of the range of wines on offer, factors such as pricing, staff training, the open wine bar and wine related events were decisive for the jury's decision.

The prize for the award-winning wine restaurateurs is endowed with 3,000 euros each, which can be used for campaigns relating to German wine. In addition, the DWI will provide the prize winners with the German Wine Queen to moderate and accompany wine events.
