This year's Ordinary General Meeting of the German Winegrowers' Association (DWV) on 22 May in Karlsruhe will be dominated by the election of a new President and Presidium.

DWV announces that after 20 years at the head of the association the acting president Norbert Weber will "hand over the responsibility into younger hands". As successor the DWV members have proposed the President of the Palatinate Wine Growers Association, Klaus Schneider (57). Schneider and his family run the 25-hectare Jesuitenhof vineyard in Dirmstein.

Heinz-Uwe Fetz (Rhineland Nassau Farmers and Winegrowers Association), Hermann Hohl (Wuerttemberg Winegrowers Association), Kilian Schneider (Baden Winegrowers Association), Ingo Steitz (Rhinehesse Winegrowers Association) and Dieter Weidmann (German Raiffeisen Association) stand for election to the five-member DWV Presidium.

As the national umbrella organization, DWV brings together a total of 30 member associations - the regional viticulture and cooperative associations as well as other associations such as the VDP.Prädikatsweingüter and the Bundesverband Ökologischer Weinbau (Ecovin). According to the statutes, elections to the Presidium take place every five years.
