The biodynamic Bordeaux winery Château Palmer (Margaux) uses a "music box" to test the influence of sound waves on the blossoming and growth of the vines and their possible effect on the spread of mildew and esca. This is what the "Decanter" reports. According to the report, Palmer's managing director Thomas Duroux explained that the company wants to determine the connection in a three-year trial. The experiment is based on the work of the French physicist and musician Joel Sternheimer in the 1980s. According to his theory, published in 1994 in the renowned journal "New Scientist", musical waves should be able to influence protein synthesis in plants.

Château Palmer has installed solar-powered loudspeakers with amplifiers in a Merlot vineyard near the castle, which play different sound patterns calibrated accordingly for three years during the growth phases.
