The world-famous Bordeaux sweet wine estate Château d'Yquem in Sauternes wants to cultivate its vineyards biodynamically in future. The local French newspaper "Sud Ouest" reports that one of the partners, billionaire Bernhard Arnault, announced the decision. The top vineyard Château Cheval Blanc in St. Emilion, in which he also has a stake, is possibly to follow suit. But this is not yet certain.

"In recent years, Yquem has taken decisive steps to switch to organic farming - and soon to biodynamic farming," Arnault told the press. Yquem is now at an advanced stage of organic farming. The declared goal is to convert all of the 100 hectares of vineyards to biodynamic farming. Currently, half of the vineyard area is already being cultivated according to the principles of biodynamics.
