The Roederer champagne house also wants to produce still wines in the future. This was confirmed by managing director Frédéric Rouzaud and oenologist Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon to the online trade magazine "Drinks Business" at the premiere of the Crystal 2008 a few days ago. Currently, the house is working on a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir still wine, each from single vineyards.

"We've been working on the concept for ten years, but at first we tried to copy Burgundy. That was the wrong way. We didn't achieve the concentration and balance we wanted," Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon admitted, adding, "We had to go in a different direction, and this year the two wines are impressively good." However, it is not yet known when the wines will be available and at what price. The champagne house plans to announce the date separately.
