The Burgundy winegrowers' association BIVB (Bureau Interprofessionnel des Vins de Bourgogne) wants to promote the cheap wines of the less known, regional growing regions with a campaign.

The AOC Burgundy is divided into a total of 14 wine regions, and the AOC Mâcon alone consists of 27 appellations. However, these are hardly known, admitted BIVB chairman François Labet, while many wineries have suffered from the image that good wines are only available in Burgundy at very high prices. The top wines from the highest price regions, however, represented only two percent of the volume of wine produced. "We want to show that wines from Burgundy are affordable and that excellent wines are available here at reasonable prices," he added. With campaigns currently planned, the BIVB wants to define and communicate the special features of these growing regions.
