The Federal Government is reducing the value-added tax for gastronomic businesses to seven per cent for a provisional period of one year from 1 July 2020. The reduction was one of the most important political demands of the industry association Dehoga. Thus, this tax will also be reduced for Straußwirtschaften (wine taverns), vinotheques of wineries with seats as well as wine bars. Dehoga has announced that it will fight for a permanent solution with this VAT rate. No one in the restaurant or wine industry expects prices to fall for guests.
