The VDP-Winery Dr. Bürklin-Wolf in replaces the association name "Ortswein" with the Burgundian term "Village". With the 2019 vintage, which will be on sale from May onwards, only the name of the village will appear at the front of the previous local wines - for example Wachenheim, Ruppertsberg, Deidesheim and Forst. Below that, "Village" will follow. However, the "Weinwirtschaft" reports that the VDP classification of local wines is still to be found on the back label.

Managing Director Steffen Brahner emphasized to the "Weinwirtschaft" that the Burgundian term is "much more precise" than the German term Ort. This had become clear to him in discussions with traders and restaurateurs. However, Dr. Bürklin-Wolf wanted to retain the term "estate wine" - it was very well received by the consumer.
