With the Bad Dürkheim Sausage Market, the world's largest wine festival opens on Friday, 6 September. The organisers expect up to 685,000 visitors at the event, which will be open from 6 to 10 September and from 13 to 16 September. This year, visitors to the sausage market will be able to taste 292 wines and sparkling wines at 54 traditional tasting stations. The 292 wines include 207 white wines, 33 white autumns and rosés and 52 reds. The most strongly represented grape variety is Riesling, which, with 94 different wines and 13 sparkling wines, makes up more than a third of the total offer. All wines must originate from Bad Dürkheim sites and have been produced as producer or estate bottling in Bad Dürkheim. The sparkling wines must also originate from Bad Dürkheim. The large fair is complemented by a large musical, cultural and culinary supporting programme.
