The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture has granted permission for a total of 80,000 seasonal workers to enter the country, for example for the vineyards, under very strict conditions. Each one must be identified beyond doubt by the Federal Police in order to be able to establish contact chains in case of infection. In addition, entry is only permitted by air at certain airports, which will be announced in the coming days.
For this purpose, winegrowers and farmers are allowed to recruit up to 10,000 domestic helpers - such as unemployed persons, students, asylum seekers and short-time workers. In addition, they must undergo a standardized health check before the first day of work. Those arriving are obliged to live and work strictly separated from the other employees for the first 14 days of their stay. They are also not allowed to leave the company premises.
