The world's largest cork producer Amorim has acquired a 50 per cent stake in the Czech glass closure producer Vinolok, which belongs to the Preciosa Group. This was announced by the company. The background to the deal is not known. Amorim only said that the combination of glass and cork is crucial for innovative, useful and sustainable premium closures.

Vinolok CEO Ales Urbanek said the acquisition would allow the company to further expand its business, as well as increase its production capacity and presence in the wine and spirits market.

Amorim achieves an annual turnover of about 760 million euros, Vinolok reaches about 16 million with 170 employees.
