The wine sales of Châteaux im Bordelais are currently at an all-time low. According to a memorandum from the CIVB trade association, the situation is due to the Corona crisis and the sluggish sales of the last two vintages. If wines in the amount of the 4 million hl forecast so far were sold during the campaign until July 2020, there would still be 8.5 million hl in the cellars of the goods, the paper says. This is an increase of eleven percent in the amount of wine stored.
If the current situation did not improve, the extrapolation shows that wines in the average sales volume of 25 months would be stored in the cellars. This has never been done in the past 20 years. Compared to current marketing and sales, the stock is "very high", a Négociant told "Wine Business".
