At the Gutedel Cup in Badenweiler a few days ago, more than 200 wines competed for an award in four categories. For the 22nd time already, the best Gutedel wines from the Markgräflerland, the Saale-Unstrut wine region and Switzerland were awarded. The competition categories were quality wine dry, Kabinett dry, international dry and noble sweet.

The 2017 Seefelder Maltesergarten of Badischer Winzerkeller eG, Breisach, won in the category "Qualitätswein trocken", the 2017 Laufener Altenberg of Winzerkeller Auggener Schäf eG won in the category "Kabinett trocken", the 2016 Auggener Schäf of Winzerkeller Auggener Schäf eG won in the category "Gutedel Edelsüß" and the 2017 Arenit Sancta Clara of Pfaffenweiler Weinhaus won in the category "International trocken".

A 22-member jury consisting of sommeliers, cellar masters, oenologists, specialist retailers, restaurateurs and journalists from Germany and Switzerland tasted the wines at the Badischer Weinbauverband in Freiburg in April. The wines were judged according to the 20 point system.
