What does dry mean?
In German-speaking countries, a still wine is described as"dry" if it has less than 9 grams of residual sugar per litre. The total acidity may be a maximum of 2 grams per litre lower than the residual sugar. A still wine with a maximum of 4 grams of residual sugar per litre is considered "completely dry".
Sparkling wines labelled "dry" may have a residual sugar content of between 17 and 32 grams per litre.
