Which wine goes with mussels?
Mussels need a fresh, mineral, very dry white wine as a partner. Predestined here is a Sauvignon Blanca cuvée partner with Sémillon or Colombard (from Bordeaux, Gascony or the Loire, for example) is ideal.
Apart from that, Crémant or Champagne is also recommended with oysters. Roasted scallops also go very well with Chardonnay, Pinot Gris or Pinot Blanc because of their slightly nutty flavour. If mussels, clams and/or cockles are cooked in a spicy broth, an aromatic variety such as Viognier can go well alongside Sauvignon Blanc or Chenin Blanc.
